About a year and a half ago, I was sitting in front of the computer screen much like you are now, intensely reading a newsletter about some guy telling me how I could easily grow my MLM business from home, in my pajamas while drinking my favorite beverage…

I was a little skeptical, but I was feeling a pain in my @$$ after having sponsored 17 people my first year in network marketing and having most of them sit on their hands, while they whined and complained because their broke cousin (who was still living at his mom’s house) had made fun of them for joining one of those “pyramid things”.

There I was: an MIT grad; in grad school at USC; hating my job in aerospace and thinking about getting a PhD in Engineering just to escape my J-O-B. My fraternity brothers were laughing behind my back for having started an MLM business… “You joined one of those pyramid things?”. ::Deja-Vu::

After a long night of “showing the plan”, I was sitting in front of my computer reading an email on how I could prove everybody wrong and really explode this MLM thing, online.

Too Stubborn to Quit

At that point, the only reason I hadn’t quit the business was because:

1) I had already told too many people about it

2) I was making enough money to keep hope alive &

3) I’m too stubborn to quit.

So I chose to trust the guy on the other end of the email and pulled out my credit card and forked over $37 to get “the secret mlm cash system”.

What the heck, right!?!

At least if this guy scammed me for 37 bucks, no one would know about it. Besides, money wasn’t an issue. I was making good money at the J-O-B and I would spend 6 times more money on a good night out in Hollywood.

So 3 days later, I got a package in the mail of a short 50-page book called “Magnetic Sponsoring” by Mike Dillard. And so began my journey down a crazy, deep and psychedelic rabbit-hole with Mr. Dillard as the ‘Mad Hatter’, slapping me around with his periodic “Alpha Networker” rants via email.

Enter the ‘Batman’

I told my upline sponsor, Raymond about the book and recommended he get it. At the time ‘Batman’, admittedly, was a bit too cheap and skeptical to buy it, but I told him I wasn’t going to loan him my copy and that he had to buy it for himself, if he really wanted to know what was causing me to jump off the walls.

So a week later, he forked over the $37.

Eventually, my two uplines above him bought the course as well. (Thanks for the commissions guys!)

So we got to work after that, and gradually we started implementing these tactics and low and behold, I started making money while I slept! Hmmm… interesting.

In fact, I had managed to create my own ‘magic slot machine’ — I remember in November of 2006 during my first 2 weeks of using ‘attraction marketing’, I inserted into Google $32 and generated $720 in sales. That amounted to about $330 in profits. Cha-ching!!

To make a long story short, a year later the products of all our study, work and on-going battle with procrastination were 2 awesome marketing systems:

MLM System Formula

So recently, our business started scratching the glass ceiling and we needed to figure out how to easily pass our techniques and secrets on to our downline and marketing clients.

It’s one thing to be able to do something ourselves and make it work. It’s a whole other thing to empower others to duplicate what we had just done. (Remember, most people are lazy, apathetic and scared, but we somehow have to make that work in an MLM business.)

Then along came the ‘Mad Hatter’ again, with the “solution”.

‘Mr. Hatter’ (Mike Dillard) was just coming off the heals of a very private summit at his home in Austin where he taught attendees everything he knew about creating replicated marketing systems for MLM. I couldn’t go at the time, but a couple of months later he started accepting applications for 15 people who would get the opportunity to review the DVD recordings of the event.

I submitted my application and I was accepted… “Holy Crap!“

He did ask to do one thing, though. Uh oh…. here’s the catch!

He sent us a Flip Video camera (nice!) to record a testimonial on what we thought about the DVDs. We got to keep the camera. (Score!)

So last night, after getting our butts kicked by Master Lee at the West Coast Hwa Rang Do Headquarters, Raymond and I sent ‘Mr. Hatter’ our thoughts on MLM System Formula and his entire system via YouTube.

I wanted to share this with you, to give you a glimpse into the journey we experienced over the past year and a half or so. It’s been a wild ride and both Raymond and I are dedicated to making it 100 times easier for you than it was for us.
